Avalon is a cheap, filthy dive bar with barely any place to stretch your legs. But it's also the world where Jack has been stuck in for a very long time and where strange things creep at him from behind the walls.
There's the theme of alcoholic addiction and there's the murder plot that comes to Jack's attention with an accidentally overheard whispered conversation. The game explores what can you do with feeble, unpredictable player characters, tight claustrophobic spaces, and hopefully keeps all the plot twists throughout as twisted and unpredictable as Jack himself.
Most games get a recommendation based on the way they play, but Snakes of Avalon is worth experiencing simply for the world it presents. It’s weird and dark and may just contain a deep, hidden message.
All in all, Snakes Of Avalon is more than worth your time. It has an original setting and main character, and a very creative design. It’s also darned funny since I must confess that I really laughed out loud a couple of times. And it’s free. What else can you ask for?
My favorite point & click adventure game since Time Gentlemen, Please! Snakes of Avalon
