The first thing we had in mind while designing Bloody Trapland was to make it available to everyone, whether they are a casual gamer who just got into gaming, or the hardcore gamer who eat, breath and sleep video games.
We wanted to create a game where anyone and everyone to be able to play with each other, and have a blast while doing it!
During the designing phase, whe thought that a platform game were up to four player could play simultanously would be perfect, because everyone has played Super Mario Bros., and platform games are fun, right?
Well, it wasn't that easy, but we thought that a crazy, fast paced multiplayer platforming game were you get NO penalty for dying would be great for a casual-meets-hardcore game.
To avoid the irritating dilemma that haunts platforming games with multiplayer that is the camera, we decided to let the levels take place on one static screen. That way, everyone could just focus on their own pace instead of hurring up and try to keep up with the rest of the players in order to move the camera forward. The result was hilarious.
We'ev had a lot of opportunities to have public play tests of Bloody Trapland, and we've gotten a great deal of positive feedback! We've even won a prize in best game concept in the Swedish Game Concept Challenge 2011!
