What is the Download Client?
The client is IndieCity's own application for downloading, installing and running games/applications on your system. You'll receive many benefits to using the download client, and by using it you're also helping out IndieCity, other gamers and indie developers!
IndieCity Download Client features:
- Silent installs: Enable this feature and you don't have to worry about clicking through an installer! Download the game and next thing you know you'll have a notification saying it's ready to play.
- Recommended downloads: Using this feature will allow the Download Client to push you free games and demos based on your personal preferences. Skip the browsing and wake up to a new set of games to try!
- Sharing: Our use of peer to peer technology means that each client will be sharing data (optional). This allows us to keep our costs down, revenue share for developers up and allow hosting of free games!
Sharing is enabled by default!
It really, really helps IndieCity and developers (as we take a smaller revenue than most sites) if you can continue sharing the games via the client. But we understand that not everyone can do this, so we’ve made it really easy to turn it off, or put limits and schedules on the sharing:
To disable sharing:
- Launch the client
- Sign in/Verify
- Click on Options
- Ensure that "Yes, please help indie developers and IndieCity by continuing to seed my game files when they have finished downloading" is unticked.
For advanced users, you can set limits/schedules in the Limits & Schedules section of the Options.
